LE COQ SPORTIF AND A.S.O RENEW PARTNERSHIP

Le coq sportif and Amaury Sport Organisation are pleased to announce that they are renewing their partnership for the next five years, starting in 2017, for A.S.O.’s cycling races, foremost of which the Tour de France. This partnership dates back to 1951, when the tricolour brand took on the prestigious task of making the Tour de France teams’ jerseys. Until 1988, the most famous riders, including Jacques Anquetil, Bernard Hinault, and Eddy Merckx, wore le coq sportif jerseys. After several years apart, le coq sportif and A.S.O. joined forces again in 2012, when the French athletic brand became the Tour de France equipment sponsor again, producing the famous leaders’ jerseys: the Yellow Jersey, the Green Jersey, the Polka Dot Jersey, and the White Jersey. It was the perfect birthday present for the brand’s 130th anniversary. Over the past five years, le coq sportif has relived all the emotions of the race, alongside riders and fans alike... unforgettable moments that we’d like to preserve forever.

“ We decided to renew our partnership because of these shared experiences, for the love of cycling races, and the desire to write our shared history. The Tour de France is part of our history, and we are part of the Tour’s history “

Said Patrick Ouyi, le coq sportif’s communication director. “ We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with le coq sportif, which, over the past five years, has incorporated cyclists’ high technical standards for race wear. Every year, le coq sportif has been an attentive, highly professional partner, and our riders are proud to wear the iconic Tour de France leaders’ jerseys “ added Yann Le Moenner, General Manager of Amaury Sport Organisation. In 2016, le coq sportif released its first performance clothing collection in partnership with the Tour de France, whose label is printed on every item. This brand new range is developed for consumers looking for premium affordable products. It includes jerseys, technical jackets and bib shorts combining the brand’s traditional style with that of the famous ‘Grande Boucle’. Streamlined, lifestyle products offer technical details sourced from the items worn by the elite of international cycling. Both partners are committed to working together on the long term, with year-round efforts towards the world-class cycling race. In addition to the Tour de France, le coq sportif is also a partner to A.S.O.’s other prestigious international cycling races, including Paris-Nice, Paris-Roubaix, Tour de Yorkshire, Critérium du Dauphiné.

It is more than a partnership, it is a passion and an obvious choice that confirms le coq sportif’s commitment to cycling, past, present, and future. – The French sport brand, le coq sportif was founded 130 years ago, in 1882, in Romilly-surSeine near Troyes, France’s knitwear capital. His earliest purpose was providing high-quality sport products for teams and individual athletes. Le coq sportif has been marked by great moments – Bernard Hinault’s five Tour de France victories, Yannick Noah’s 1983 French Open win, and Argentina’s World Cup victory in 1986, led by Diego Maradona, followed by Italy’s win in 1982 – that have forever tied the brand to sport. Today, le coq sportif is a clothing sponsor to athletes in its historic sports: the tricolour brand provides high-performance jerseys to the Tour de France leaders, and in January 2014 it launched a deal with French tennis player Richard Gasquet. In 2015, le coq sportif will also return to women’s tennis and to top-¬level football with the French team l’ASSE and in rugby with the Parisian team Racing 92. Le coq sportif designs its shoe and clothing collections with just as much care as its products designed for professional athletes, with the same touch of French elegance.

In 2010, the brand opened a development center and a production site in Romillysur-Seine in France. Le coq sportif has four subsidiaries France, Spain / Portugal, Great Britain and Italy.
